Traditional Balinese Massage

Balinese oil-based massage is a full-body, deep-tissue, holistic treatment. This unique, culturally rich, ancient Asian body work has been practiced for centuries uses a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure, reflexology and aromatherapy to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, and bring a sense of wellbeing, calm and deep relaxation.

  • Renew, strengthen and heal body and mind.
  • Soothe damaged tissue; relieve strained muscles and joint pain.
  • Break down tensely knotted muscles and stimulate the body’s lymphatic system into releasing its self-regenerative power
  • Increases blood circulation and target knotted tissue to reduce stress and rebalance your body
  • Reduces pain and tension, all of which help to relax mind and body and induce a feeling of delightful well-being.

Professional Services

In this traditional therapy, pushing and stroking techniques predominate, working to ease muscle and joint pain. It relies upon deep thumb pressures pushing, pressing and circling along and around the body’s energy meridians to break down tensely knotted muscles. The deep thumb pressure is accompanied with simultaneous stroking palm movements to improve blood circulation. Additional special techniques we use to follow Balinese traditions include palm and skin rolling, kneading and stroking, pressure-point stimulation, crabbing, cat squeeze, thumb circles, thumb slide, thumb walking, knuckle slides, wringing, forearm slide, chopping and “kecak” (sliding elbow along the side of the spine while shaking the hand) combined with the aromas of essential oils – all of which help to relax mind and body.

In this one hour session expect the therapist to use deep pressure during the massage, in order to work on deep, knotted tissue and muscle damage. Your therapist will also use long, gentle strokes and kneading to relieve tension and improve circulation in the muscles closer to the surface of the skin.
